But when you connect this platform with other systems, then you are able to really unleash its true power. But at the same time one is able to look at the book and with very little thought build on that knowledge and develop solutions for business problems. Q. Can you give us a few tips to get us started? If you are annoyed with seeing the Ribbon at the top of your page you can double-click any of the tabs and the Ribbon will be minimized. If you want to see it again simply double-click a tab to have it reappear When creating a new library of lists, make sure that you do not use spaces in the name. This will make your life a lot easier when you decide to use SharePoint Designer or Visual Studio for interacting with the list or library. After the list or library is created you can always go back into the Look and Feel settings to add a space to the name, to make it easier to read. When creating workflows, it is best to use Visio 2013’s Microsoft SharePoint Workflows template to make a graphical representation of the workflow. After you finish with Visio to make a graphical version of the workflow you are able to upload the drawing into SharePoint Designer to fill in the details. When creating a new site, make sure that one of your first steps is to check the Regional settings for your site. By default SharePoint will use the Pacific Time zone. If you have to create several sites at once and they are going to have similar lists and libraries, prepare the initial site and then use the “Save as Template†option in Site Settings to clone the site. Johnathan is also a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) who specializes in SharePoint 2013, 2010, MOSS 2007, WSS 3.0, Office 2007/2010/2013, and Office 365 technologies, along with providing Soft Skills training for organizations. Johnathan also speaks at SharePoint and social networking events around the world.Michelle Lopez is a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) who specializes in SharePoint 2013, 2010, 2007, as well as InfoPath and Office technologies. She worked for 15 years at Microsoft Corporation and has dedicated the past 6 years of her career to championing SharePoint solutions to communities and companies nationwide. This book is written very easy to understand and follow the step to accomplish a task. They didn't cover an installation and configuration section of sharepoint. They assume you already have a system setup and running and this book will take place to guide you on how to use sharepoint. The book just give you short overview of each topic and a step by step with color graphical user interface. This book is written for beginner level. Thank to all of three Author, Jonathan Lightfoot, Michelle Lopez and Scott Metker for their good written style and make this book so easy to read and follow.
Excellent for beginners. Good learning process though it assumes you have site administrator permission level which some newbies may not get or understand. This could lead to some frustration. But overall, it is great for first time exposure and learning your way around SP!
Book has all the information I could hope for. Only using for reference currently as I have not had a chance to just read. Using as refwrench however it has been exeedingly helpful.
Really learned a lot from this book. I have become the sharepoint "go to" person for the company. THANKS!
