probably not good for beginners, though. the directions are clear and simple and there'ssome really creative uses for gingerbread in this book, I make t least a dozen houses a year, for my friends and their kids to decorate, and was looking for some fun new ideas and this provided many, the kids loved the barn 'cause they had a ball choosing and decorating the animals, and watching me make spun sugar hay, and eating I, of course lol, if your good with a rolling pin I would highly recommend this book
My chef let me borrow this book to make a house and I loved it so much, I needed my own copy. The recipes inside are excellent - but only if you're making a house for decoration, not to eat! The cookie recipe is a hard one - you might break your teeth trying to eat it. And the royal icing is literally like glue. Perfect for construction! The book has great projects inside and templates.
Fun! Fun! Fun! I ordered this book so that I could try making my very first Gingerbread House... I picked the PERFECT book. I chose the Woodsman's Cabin. Each house has full size patterns to trace and transfer to card stock, it made it so convenient. I love how everything is so detailed. Knowing that I am slow I set time aside to create this Gingerbread House and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. A friend even dropped by and when she saw what I was making she stopped and helped for awhile and wanted to make one for her family. My husband cut out the board that I needed for the base and my 18 year old son even helped with some great ideas for my "trees" (we couldn't find two different sizes of sugar cones in our area). It is so nice to come across people and books that have something beautiful and worthwhile to share. Teresa Layman does beautiful work and is a true artist. It sure brought a couple days of complete happiness as I constructed the building and grounds. It was an achievement for me since I have scleroderma and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Great Book! Great Author! Hint!!! Don't chill the dough!!!

I purchased a collection of gingerbread house books and this one has great stencils and instructions!
This is the best gingerbread house making book. The patterns are the actual size of what youneed. The pictures are large and very helpful. The directions are easy to follow and work well.We love this book. I have purchased 3 of them for us and gifts. After looking at other Gingerbreadbooks, this is definately our favorite.
