Once you start, you'll quickly find the author seems to know exactly what happened at your work and the thoughts and emotion you experience during stressful events. Simply knowing you are normal and that many of us suffer from stress in similar patterns is a big relief. Read those and it'll feel like you've talked to someone who really understands you.Then the book goes on and covers lots of practical recommendations that you can apply right away. In fact there are so many good advices that I think I've highlighted the most paragraphs in this book than all others I've read.
Success Under Stress is a practical, real world guide for being successful, despite the "new reality" that stress is part of all our lives. As a business owner and mom, stress comes at me everyday, all day! What I love about this book is that there are practical guides, real world action steps, for handling this stress and not surviving, but succeeding. Since being introduced to Dr. Melnick, there has been more than one occasion when I have been faced with a difficult situation and have referred back to this book - by either doing a "panic reset", or simply reinforcing the concepts surrounding my self confidence and self esteem, I have been able to change the outlook on the situation.I highly recommend this book to anyone, from high level business persons, who are inundated with stressful situations, to individuals just starting their careers (I wonder how many young career mistakes I could have avoided if I knew how to handle stress better!)

This book indeed offers the Powerful Tools for Staying Calm, Confident, and Productive When the Pressure's On. At the end of the book you end gaining a new overview of the workload, and stress you carry upon yourself. Sharon Melnick sucessfully explains how does the stress work in our body, and how you can avoid and control it. This book is a "game changer" for your life x stress routine.
It is a great book full of wonderful advices how to manage stress. Even being a stress coach myself, I have found plenty of great techniques that I didn't know about it!
Still in the process of going through this book, but everything thus far is great. Either it is showing great examples of things I already know(reminding me to keep it up) or things I didn't know and am putting into my practice.
Dr. Melnick makes some great points in this book.First, high levels of stress are the new normal. Get used to it.Second, you can control the stress in your life by learning and practicing a few common sense strategies that will make you more reslient.I like her approach.Stress happens, you can't control that. But you can control how you react to it. When you choose to be in charge, the stressors in your life seem less overwhelming. Life becomes better and simpler.Dr. Melnick spends 220 pages providing great ideas on how to cope with stress.But I loved the appendix on page 221. There she summarizes her 12 best thoughts on how to be reslient and deal with stress in a proactive manner.I won't give away those strategies here -- but believe me they are worth the price of the book.If you every feel overwhelmed by life, you need to get a copy of "Success Under Stress." Read it cover to cover and begin practicing Dr. Melnick's resilience strategies.
Great read. Took my team thru it during our weekly staff meetings. The group learned a lot and we often refer to it.
