Updated: 6/24/15I have to reduce my experience from a 2 to a 1. With light use, I've had to use a hot glue gun several times to keep the pages in tact. I deeply regret not returning this as soon as I received it. Took some pictures with my camera. Will add soon to this review.Original review: I love Schirmer scores. They are easy and clear to read and affordable. Unfortunately, the Faust score I received had pages already separating from the binder. After I first opened it, I saw the problem. I regret not returning this for another score. I have had to use my glue gun 3 - 4 times already just to make sure the pages don't separate further.
This is a piano reduction of the score, but in the lyrics are *only* in Italian, and not the original French. Even if it were in English, at least it would be useful for a U.S. production. As it is, it would only be suitable for an Italian audience, and probably not even then, as a European opera-goer would have fewer qualms about seeing it in the original language.The Amazon product description did not contain enough information to know this before ordering, though the fact that it was published by Ricordi should have been a tip-off.
In French and English translation, this is the ubiquitous piano reduction for this opera. Also includes a reduction of the ballet as an appendix. Easy to read and play from, but as is typical with Schirmer may not be the most faithful or best reduction possible.
Excellent condition
If you ever shopped Patelson's NYC - you'd know exactly what this score looks like, the quality of paper and clarity of sight - it's great.
Some of the pages are very blur!
The item was different than the one in the image. The score was in Italian, but the original is in French, so now i have to sell it forward, because i don't have any use of this item. I am dissapointed: otherwise the condition was excellent.
The seller was very kind and communicative. She noted my home address and seeing that we lived near each other asked if buyer would just like to pick it up and save shipping. The item itself was in the condition it was noted. Very happy with my purchase, and would purchase again from seller.
