About the Author
Richard Proenneke retired from his job as an operator and mechanic at age fifty to live the next thirty years of his life in the wilds of Twin Lakes, Alaska. There he built a cabin, hunted and gathered his own food, educated himself as a naturalist, and recorded his activities and findings in journals and on film. His time was later made into the 2003 PBS documentary Alone in the Wilderness and written in the book One Man’s Wilderness, published in 1973 by his friend Sam Keith. Proenneke returned to civilization in 1999 and died at the age of 82 in 2003 in Hemet, California.

The best part of this book is the updated colorful photos. The pictures he was able to capture are stunningly beautiful. Clear, bright blue water, majestic snowy mountains and to Dick Proennekes' credit, he built an amazingly sturdy little cabin with his bare hands. It was also very impressive the tools and furniture he also built This journal- like book is interesting but I found a few things very upsetting as a reader.<<<<
This sounds very interesting but I really do not know because before I spend money I like an idea of the writing and if the author can hold my attention. Unfortunetly all the sample gives me is an example of someone's introduction and preface writing skills. Just befire I reach the start of the book the sampe hits 100%.
I have all his dvds and books. He was a really talented man
